Billy Steve Peak

Billy Steve Peak, age 79 of Morganfield, KY passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson. He was born October 8, 1946 in Morganfield, KY to the late William and Emma Peak. A 1964 graduate of St. Vincent Academy, he pursued higher education at El Camino College in Redondo Beach, California, and later attended Western Kentucky University. He began his career in public service as a rural carrier with the United States Postal Service and also worked for Bunny Bread. In 1976, he entered law enforcement, serving as a deputy sheriff for five years. In 1982, he was elected Sheriff of Union County, and in 1985, he was elected County Clerk of Union County, a position he held with dedication and integrity until his retirement in 2009. Beyond his professional life, he was deeply devoted to his family and community. He loved coaching baseball, watching and attending horse races, and faithfully supported his grandchildren in all of their sporting activities. He was an avid Louisville Cardinals fan and enjoyed a fine bourbon-Walker's Deluxe being his favorite.

2 Brothers: Bobby Peak of Waverly, KY

Tony Peak and Wife Lisa of Waverly, KY

Grandchildren: Macy (Hunter) VanHooser, Gage Clements, Will Peak IV (Lilly)

Gavin Peak Clements, Essie Carlisle, Emerson Carlisle

Jacy (Tate) Smith, Blake Elliott, and Alex (Logan) Edelen

Great Grandchild: Sloane Edelen

Funeral service will be 3PM Monday, March 2, 2026 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Waverly. Fr. Dave Johnson and Fr. Freddie Byrd will officiate.

The visitation will be 10AM until service time on Monday at the church.

Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Waverly KY.
