Billy Junior Poe, 73, of Siler City, went to his heavenly home on Monday, March 31st, 2025, at home surrounded by family.
Billy was born December 3rd, 1951, in Chatham County, to the late Billy Dock Poe and Edna “Louise” Thomas Poe. He is preceded in death by his father, Billy, and his grandson, Craig Kelly.
Billy retired from WellMark Plastics & Recycling in Asheboro where he was a forklift driver. He had previously worked at Coleman Cable and Communications Cable in Siler City, Olympic Steel, and Kellwood. He was a member of Piney Grove Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing softball, and watching the Braves and Tarheels play. He was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves and the North Carolina Tarheels. Billy loved his dogs, but more than that, he loved his family. He loved going to ballgames and watching his grandchildren and nieces & nephews play.
Left to cherish Billy’s memory, is his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Ola Dark Poe; his sons, Kevin Poe (Stefanie) of Elon, Barry Dark (Cindy) of Bear Creek, and Jamie Poe of Siler City; his mother, Louise Thomas Poe of Siler City; his brothers, Larry Poe (Carolyn) of Siler City, and James (Loretta) of Bear Creek; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Dark, Bailey Poe, Triston Barbour, and Michael Kelly; and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2343 Piney Grove Church Rd., Siler City, NC 27344, or Liberty Home Care & Hospice, 401 E. 3rd St., Siler City, NC 27344.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 6th, 2025, at 2:30 pm, at Piney Grove Methodist Church. Visitation will be held Friday, April 4th, 2025, from 6-8 pm, at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be officiated by Reverend Jim Folks and Reverend Andreas Kjernald. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Smith & Buckner Funeral Home will be assisting the Poe family.
