Billy Wayne Preston

Billy Wayne Preston, 71 of Sanford passed away Friday November 14, 2025.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 pm Saturday November 22nd at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 3:00 until 4:30 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.

Billy was born in Chatham Co, a son of the late Wade Preston and Myrtle Burns Preston. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Basler; grandson, John Allen Buck, great grandson, Za’chari Gooch; siblings, James Preston and Mary Lamonds, great grandparents Lucille & Kemp Burns. He loved traveling to the mountains, working on cars, his family, hunting, fishing and watching wrestling.

Mr. Preston is survived by his wife, Hazel Heath Preston; daughters, Wendy Perez, Becky Buck (Eddie), Margaret Harrell, and Helen Ward (Bryan); sister, Rebecca Perez (Archie); brother, Dennis Preston (Debbie); 15 grandchildren: Gabby, Noah, Maria, Andrea, Alan, Jess, William, Gary, Holly, Cristina, Jimmy, Sandy, Vicki, Larry, and Daniela,  and 21 great grandchildren.

Memorial donations can be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
