May Mace Obituary
May Stone Mace 95 of Sanford passed away Thursday February 5, 2026. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday February 10th at St Luke United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends following the service in the Davenport Christian Life Center.
Mrs. Mace grew up in Raleigh, a daughter of the late Hugh Stone and Elizabeth Ferguson Stone and was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Claude “Pete” Mace. She graduated from Broughton High School and following graduated from Duke University. May was a longtime faithful member of St Luke United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Mace is survived by her son, Peter Mace (Joanne); grandsons Justin Mace (Heidi) and Sterling Mace (Abbie Matthews); great granddaughter, Nora Lynne Mace; sister, Sarah Stone; several nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver, Tina Cochrane.
