Billy Rowe

Billy Rowe, 77, of Fruitland passed away Tuesday morning, February 10, 2026, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Adel, GA to the late Clarence and Nora Rentz Rowe and lived in Fruitland most of his life. Mr. Rowe retired from Valdosta State Prison after many years of service. After retirement, he was a school bus driver for the Echols County Schools. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Rowe always enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Archie Rowe, and one sister, Patricia Ann Rowe.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Melton Rowe of Fruitland; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Chris Bennett of Fruitland; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy C. and Amy Rowe of Stockton; one granddaughter, Kelsey Rowe; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Patricia Rowe of Daytona, FL; sisters-in-law, Barbara Melton Walker, Linda and Robert Hendley all of Fruitland; brothers-in-law, Acline and Robin Melton, Jr. of Haylow, Tim and Mahala Melton, and Terry and Vicky Melton all of Fruitland; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11 am at the Chapel of Roundtree Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Wayfare Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, February 13, 2026, from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
