Bert passed away in his home in Pryor, OK on November 3, 2025. He was cared for and surrounded by family. He was 95 years old.
Bert was born in Enid, Oklahoma on June 19, 1930. At that time, his parents lived on a farm nears Hillsdale, OK. Bert spent 1st grade in Pryor; 2nd and 3rd grade in Stigler, OK; 4th through 6th grade in Wagoner; and Jr high and high school in Pryor. He graduated from Pryor High School in 1949. In 1952, he graduated from Oklahoma A&M (State) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering.
Bert worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Owyhee, NV from 1952-1953. He then went into the US Air Force focused on Communications as a 1st Lieutenant in 1953-1955 and was stationed at both Biloxi, Mississippi and Neuberg, Germany. Bert then spent the majority of his professional career working as a Product Engineer at John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa. All four of his children were born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa. Bert retired to back to Pryor to be closer to family and enjoy warmer weather.
Bert was an avid golfer and was always ready to go out and play golf. He also loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed being active in his church home wherever he lived and volunteered on many different committees. He was also a very skilled handyman and was always working on his cars and home.
Bert is survived by his 4 children: Lynne Roy of Austin, Texas; Nancy Weems of Pryor, Oklahoma; Steve (Elaine) Roy of Townsend, Montana; and David (Debbie) Roy of Slinger, Wisconsin. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Bert was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Roy by 19 months. They had been married 74 years.

Bert's memorial service will be held by his family at First Baptist Church of Pryor on Thursday, November 6 at 11:00 am.
