Billy Wayne Skelton, age 84, of Buhl, Ala., went to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at his residence. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Magnolia Chapel North in Northport. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Buhl Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Kennedy, Rev. Albert Lyles, and Rev. Freddy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cornelius Chapel Baptist Church with Magnolia Chapel North directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Sharon Skelton; daughter, Janet Skelton; and granddaughter, Tiffany Kelly; his parents, Robert Skelton and Maddie Booth Skelton; brothers, WB, James Roy, Tom, David, Dr. Larry Skelton, and Donald Ray Skelton; and sisters, Myrtle Rice, Lois Hitt, and Shirley Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Burroughs Skelton of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; son, Mike Skelton (Sheila); daughters, Annette Channell (Tim), and Teresa Pritchett (Darrell), all of Buhl, Ala.; stepdaughters, Anita Smart and Dana Fisher (Roger), both of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; stepson, Jody Lindsey (Tracy) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandchildren, Michael Skelton (Lynsey), Miranda Steen (David), Brandon Kelly, Brad Kelly, Justin Pritchett (Bethany), and Courtney Pritchett; step-grandchildren, Jonathan Smart (Amanda), Lindsey Fowler (Jacob), and Logan Fisher (Kristin); great-grandchildren, Robbi Ann Skelton, Barrett Skelton, Kasen Steen, Jon Tanner Kelly, Mason Kelly, Sawyer Kelly, Devin Kelly, Alexis Kelly, Ava Lynn Pritchett, and Riley Pritchett; step-great-grandchildren, Kennedy Rose Fowler, Ellis Fowler, Sutton Smart, and Emilia Claire Fisher.
Pallbearers will be Joe Sanders, Wesley Laird, Tyler Hitt, David Skelton, Wade Gilliam, Dusty Skelton, Rob Burns, and Tim Duffy.

Billy Wayne graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1960. Mr. Skelton worked at Gulf States Paper for 19 years as a pipe fitter, worked at Skelton Brothers as a construction worker then later retired from Hillcrest High School in 2005. At that time, he continued enjoying farming, fishing, and loved Alabama football. He will be remembered for being a loving husband, caring and loving Daddy, Stepdad, and Pawpaw. He was always faithful to his church and raised his family to serve the Lord. His greatest joy in life was and is his friendship with Jesus and his beloved friends and family. He wanted everyone to know that he will be praying for them from Heaven, and that he and the Lord will be watching over you to protect and bless you until we meet again.
