Mary Stone Colquitt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Memorial Park, and Crematory from Dec. 22 to Dec. 23, 2025.
Mary Sue Stone Colquitt, age 81, of Tuscaloosa, Al, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Saint Mark Church in Northport, Ala, with Pastor Bo Lloyd officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
She is preceded in death by her father Thomas Marion Stone, mother, Maudrin Mayfield Stone and brother Thomas M. (Tim) Stone Jr.
She is survived by her spouse Joseph A. "Joe" Colquitt; sister, Faye S. Barnett (David) Northport, Al; sister-in-law Sharron Hayes Stone of Northport, Al; niece Sharon Barnett Hale (Tom) of Tuscaloosa, Al; great nephew Matthew Thompson Hale, Tuscaloosa, Al, and her two pets Cooper and Flo.
Sue and Joe were married on January 21, 1967, at Five Points Baptist Church and shared 58 wonderful years together. Throughout their life as a couple, they explored countless destinations near and far, with a special love for international travel. They traveled to Europe, Asia, Africa, North, Central and South America, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Caribbean Islands, and other locales. They hoped to visit 100 countries, although they came up just shy of the milestone.
Sue attended Northport Elementary and Tuscaloosa County High School before earning her bachelor's degree in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama. She built a long and dedicated career at P.E. Lamoreaux & Associates, Inc., where she took on many roles over the years, from finance and accounting to human resources. She was also a devoted, longtime member of Saint Mark Church.
She adored her cherished pets, Cooper and Flo, who will miss her deeply.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saint Mark Church, Hospice of West Alabama, St. Jude’s, Big Oak Ranch, or a charity of your choice.
