Billy Loyd Smith, 86, of rural Evening Shade, Arkansas passed away November 12, 2023 at his home. He was born November 22, 1936 in Savannah, Tennessee and had worked as a maintenance man for Frolic Footwear. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd Stricklin and Mary Frances Smith; his wife, Barbara (Price) Smith; a granddaughter, Erica Crawford; a brother, Tommy Smith; and two sons-in-law, Mike Lucas and James Crawford.
Survivors include three daughters: Shelia Lucas, Wanda Crawford, and Aline Quirrels (David); a son, Billy Smith; 11 grandkids, 33 great-grandkids, and 12 great-great-grandkids; a brother, Larry Joe Smith; and many other relatives and good friends.
Mr. Smith was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and loved all his kids and grands and truly liked watching them play together. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with his hunting dog. He especially liked family getting together.
His favorite Bible verse was John 15:12 - "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you."
Visitation of family and friends will be Tuesday, November 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland, Arkansas. Graveside service will be Wednesday, November 15 at 12:30 p.m. in Buchanan Cemetery with Bro. Henry Parker officiating.
Pallbearers will be Keith Smith, James Quirrels, Sam Quirrels, Matt Lucas, Joe Crawford, and Timmy Crawford.
Honorary Pallbearers include Gunner Quirrels, Tanner Smith, and Davyon Wilkins.
Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
