Billy Gene Summitt, age 84 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky died Saturday, January 10, 2025 at the Big Southfork Medical Center in Oneida, Tennessee.
He was born in Durant, Oklahoma on September 29, 1940 the son of the late William A. and Etta (Bowen) Summitt. Billy was a retired supervisor in trucking, attended Hope City Church, and had served his country in the US Army. Fishing was his enjoyment in life.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Daryl Summitt; brother, Earnest Ray; sisters, Faye Lane and Peggy Dodson; and 1 grandchild Jeremiah Aseltine.
Survivors include his wife, Betty (Taylor) Summitt of Whitley City, Kentucky; daughters, Debra Kay Acoba of California, Patricia G. Thompson of Modesto, California; and Nancy Lee Aseltine of Centralia, Washington; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a very special friend and Bubba #1, Hural Spradlin and Julie.
Funeral services will be held 2pm Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Dixon and Bro. Nicholas Baird officiating. Burial will follow in the T. Chitwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 12pm Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
