Billy Joe Tillery passed away on February 2, 2026 at the age of 85 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He was born on July 7, 1940 in Boaz, Alabama to Clarence and Eula (Fox) Tillery.
Billy was a devoted father and husband who touched the lives of many people at home, work, church and lodge. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
Mr. Tillery started his career with Olivetti repairing typewriters and retired from Laser Life in 2005 after many years of hard work and dedication repairing various office equipment around the Atlanta area. Billy served in the Air Force during the Vietnam war and was very proud to be a Master Mason, serving as the Worshipful Master of the North Dekalb Lodge and later attending the Mt. Zion Lodge. He also served as Worthy Grand Patron multiple times for the Cross Key chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. In his spare time, he was a deacon at his church, an assistant coach on his kids sports teams, and enjoyed spending time in his garden.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years, Harriet, his parents Clarence and Eula, his brothers Edward Tillery and Elmus Brown, and his sister Doris Singleton.
He is survived by his second wife of 5 years, Tonya Tillery; daughters Susan (David) Strupp, Lisa (David) Butler, and Lori (George) Miller; sons Jim (Kathryn) Tillery and Andre (Joanna) Brown; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services, with Masonic Rites, will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
