Billy Tuck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home & Crematory of Fayetteville on Oct. 2, 2024.
On his own terms, from his bedroom, Billy "Bill" David Tuck walked into eternity Sunday, September 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old, born June 20, 1941, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the third child of William David Tuck and Mattie Sunshine Davis Tuck.
Bill attended Fayetteville schools and was a proud FHS Purple Bulldog Class of 1960.
Bill's first job was hauling hay for Herman Jones. He taught Bill how to drive and maneuvering across the old Tilly Willy bridge was one of his first driving opportunities. He delivered furniture for Polk's Furniture making enough money to buy his first car, a 1949 two tone green Chevy coupe. He bought Dodge Lancer hubcaps for its wheels and would drive around the Fayetteville square watching them turn in the store windows.
In 1961, he met his future wife, Ms. Rosa Leta Pollock. They married June 1962 and built their home on land that had originally been a part of his grandfather's property. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this past June.
Bill worked for Standard Register from 1961 to 1980, eventually retiring from Hyster in 2003.
He was daughter Marsha and son Darrin's greatest fan and strongest supporter, being active in their lives and his grandchildren's lives, coaching his son's baseball team, attending football games, track meets, choir concerts, and basketball games.
He and Rosie enjoyed traveling to Colorado and Florida. He loved sitting on the beach, listening to and watching the waves, and digging his toes in the sand. He walked miles collecting shells with Rosie. One of his favorite adventures was riding the Amtrak to see the Grand Canyon.
He loved his people deeply and was a hugger and back patter. Daddy was the kindest man, always ready to help anyone, a friend to all, and polite beyond measure even at the height of his pain.
Bill was a member of Shepherd's Chapel for over forty years. Studying line upon line, precept upon precept.
As a young man he was an avid weightlifter and bowler. He loved to sing gospel songs with his family, and singing along with Rod Stewart, Allison Kraus, Merle Haggard, Charlie Pride, and the Beach Boys. He requested Rosie's chocolate pie and homemade hot rolls, often. His favorite medicine was his great grandchildren.
The loss of Daddy's physical presence leaves an unfillable void, but we have the most wonderful memories and his legacy lives on in those that loved him.
His parents, sister Betty Walden, and brother Charles Tuck preceded him in death. Those he loved and left behind are his precious wife Rosie of over 62 years, daughter Marsha Day (Michael), son Darrin Tuck(Shawn), grandchildren Jim Loyd (Casey), Caleb Loyd (Keegan), Silas Day (Sarah), Sydney Chinchar (Jacob), Josh Tuck (Jessica), Blake Tuck, great grandchildren; Jadyn Tuck, Landon Tuck, Josey Tuck, Avery Bowen, Brooklyn Tuck, Jacob Elliott, Maryn Loyd, Karys Loyd and Tenzin Day-expected in January, his brother in laws, sister in laws, nieces and nephews and a large host of long-time friends.
The family deeply appreciates the ever-present assistance given to Daddy over the last eight months from the Washington Regional Hospice staff. Thank you, Beth, Jean and Ben.
Thank you, sweet mama, for all the years you walked by his side, helping him through this cancer journey, and especially giving so selflessly to him these last eight months.
There will be a Celebration of Life Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 11:00-12:00 at Nelson Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A private family burial will be held at Mount Olive Cemetery in Elkins, at a later date.
