FAYETTEVILLE - Joseph Andrew Merrill, 65, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026.
Born Sept. 22, 1960, in Lansing, Mich., to Eugene and Mary Clark Merrill, he spent his early years in DeWitt, Mich., before moving to Jonesboro in 1972. He was a 1979 graduate of Jonesboro High School and a 1990 graduate of the University of Arkansas College of Engineering.
He worked as an engineer for Superior Industries, Alumax, Gates Manufacturing, and Tyson Foods, where he was respected for his knowledge, reliability, and friendly nature.
Joe married Judy Kever in 1988. They moved to Fayetteville and welcomed daughter Josie in 1991. He loved family above all, along with music, friends, and Arkansas Razorbacks sports, attending games faithfully and sharing annual Roots Music Festivals with his daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter Josie; siblings Anita Reagan, Eugene Merrill, and Mary Merrill Tucker; brother-in-law O.B. Kever III; and extended family.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at Nelson Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Funeral mass will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 17, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville. Burial will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 19, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Wolf Bayou Community near Heber Springs.
