Billy Ray Viars

Billy Ray Viars, age 70, of Slate Creek, Va, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026 following a long illness at Heritage Hall of Grundy, VA.

Born August 12, 1955, Billy was the son of the late Walter Carr Viars and Mae Marie (Hackney) Viars. He enjoyed the outdoors and going for walks. He was a resident of the area for most of his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Darrell Gene Viars and Walter Junior Viars; four sisters, Freda Sue Viars, Juanita White, Ella Mae Viars Proffitt, and Loretta Viars; one daughter, Linda Mae Viars; and one grandson, Cameron Heath Viars.

Funeral services for Billy Ray Viars will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Community Church of Living God in Three Forks, WV, with the Rev. Janice Belcher, Ray Belcher, and Joey Profitt officiating. Burial will follow at the Noah Stewart Cemetery on Compton Mountain. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers. A visitation will be held from 6-9 PM on Monday night at the church.
