William Wayne Wilson, 90, of Carmi passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Deaconess Memorial Hospital in Jasper, IN. He was born in Enfield, IL on September 5, 1935 the son of Elza and Turza (Downen) Wilson. Billy Wayne married Nancy Carol (Mayhue) Bolerjack on February 4, 2008 in Carmi, IL. He had worked in the oil field and in construction and was a member of the Laborers Union #1197. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Carmi and was a founding member of the Codgers’ Coffee Circle. He was an avid reader and loved working in his vegetable and flower garden.
Billy Wayne is survived by his wife, Nancy; two children, Stan (Judy) Wilson of Springfield, IL and Debra (James) Chauncey of Mt. Vernon, IL; step-children, Lottie (John) Lindsey and Renaa (Kevin) Fleck; grandchildren, Leslie (JR) VanRiper, Rachel (Justin) Przewoznik, Cole Chauncey, Chase Chauncey, Jonnah (Tom) Coffel, John Andrew “Andy” Hansman and Brandon (Sophie) Fleck; six great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Doris Hampton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Steven Wayne Wilson and four siblings, Fannie Spence, Alta Pottorff, Edna Fern Wilson and Clarence Wilson.
Funeral Services for Billy Wayne Wilson, 90, of Carmi will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. The family will be having a private burial at Plainview General Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Billy Wayne's memory to Pets at Risk and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821.
