It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Biruck Worku, who left us on March 22, 2024, at the tender age of 18, following a tragic and fatal car accident. Biruck was born on August 16, 2005, in Rochester, MN, to his loving parents, Worku Habtemariayam and Tegest Bedasso.
Biruck leaves behind a family shattered by grief, including his parents, Tegest and Worku, and his siblings Meklit Worku (15), Tequam Worku (8), and Melat Worku (6). His untimely departure has left a void in their hearts that can never be filled.
Biruck graduated from Mayo High School with the Class of 2023, a milestone that marked his dedication and perseverance in academics. However, his legacy extends far beyond his educational achievements. He was a beacon of light, radiating kindness and warmth to everyone he encountered. His infectious smile and gentle demeanor touched the lives of many.
From a young age, Biruck dedicated himself to serving others, particularly within the Ethiopian community in Rochester. As a devoted member of the St. George Ethiopian Orthodox Church, he served as a Deacon, touching the lives of many with his kindness and compassion.
Biruck was not just an aspiring youth within our community; he was a beacon of hope and inspiration for countless young Ethiopians who looked up to him. His infectious positivity and unwavering love for others endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Known for his compassionate spirit, Biruck made it his mission to spread positivity wherever he went. His zest for life was evident in his unwavering optimism and his genuine love for those around him. Whether it was lending a helping hand or offering words of encouragement, Biruck had an innate ability to uplift others and make the world a better place.
In the wake of Biruck's passing, his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him are engulfed in sorrow. Yet, amidst the pain, they find solace in the memories of a remarkable young man who brought joy and love into their lives.
Biruck's legacy of kindness and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to shine brightly, illuminating the lives of all who were touched by his presence.
