Blaine Merriman Obituary

Blaine Eldon Merriman, 100, Rensselaer, passed away on Sept. 28, 2024, at his residence.

Blaine was born on Jan. 10, 1924, the son of Guy and Nellie (Delong) Merriman. Blaine married the love of his life, Audrey Eileen Nuss, on April 20, 1946, in Rensselaer, and she preceded him in death on July 1, 2009.

Blaine served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II (15th Air Force, 450th Bomb Group) and was a gunner on B-24 planes.

Blaine worked as a rural letter carrier at the United States Postal Service for 17 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Rensselaer, where he previously served as Deacon and Elder of the Church.

Blaine is survived by his children, Roger Merriman, Peru, Margo (Wayne) Roberts-Feest, Carmel, Michael Merriman, Lafayette, Kelly (Jim) Feltzer, Granger; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Dean Putt.

Blaine was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and son-in-law, Steve Roberts.

Friends may call on the family on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. - noon CT at the First Christian Church of Rensselaer. A Funeral Service will be held immediately following at noon CT with Pastor Jeff Segers officiating.

Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery with full military rites.
