Obituary for Blair Kathryn Embry

November 29, 1989 - February 16, 2026

Blair Kathryn Embry, 36, of Decatur, Texas, passed away on February 16, 2026. Blair's life was defined by a radiant spirit, a boundless love for nature, and a heart that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Blair was preceded in death by her grandparents Betty and L.C. Smith, Clara Smith, Carol and Eugene Embry, her uncle Bill Smith, and her beloved Mimi and Papa, LuAnn and Jim Locke. Their influence shaped so much of who she became, and she carried their love with her throughout her life.

She is survived by her parents, Lee Ann Embry (Jimmy Byrd) and Mike Embry (Jeni Brosky), her late granddaddy's wife Ruth Embry, as well as her cherished cat, Kenny Powers. Blair also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of loyal friends who adored her deeply.

From the moment she could walk, Blair was drawn to the outdoors. She picked wildflowers, collected rocks, and found joy in every creature - big or small. Her love for gardening came from her Papa Pete, and her creativity was a gift she shared with her Nana and Grandmother. She inherited her wicked sense of humor from her Granddaddy, and she carried it proudly, brightening even the hardest days.

Blair was a walking encyclopedia of music history, with impeccable taste and an ear for the songs that spoke to the soul. She had a heart of gold and a presence that could light up any room. Those who knew her describe her as a sweet soul, genuine, kind, beautiful inside and out, and someone who lifted others effortlessly. Her smile was unforgettable, and her generosity and warmth left lasting impressions on everyone she met.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua, followed by graveside services at 1:00 p.m. at Burleson Memorial Park.

Blair's light, humor, and love for the world around her will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
