Blanche Johnson Davis, 88, of Galatia, NC passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on March 7, 2025.
She was a native of Scotland Neck, NC and was the daughter of the late Frank Johnson and Mittie Phelps Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Robert Lewis "Rooster" Davis and her sisters, Nina Johnson Pilgreen and Betty Johnson Catron.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to many including the church members of Galatia Baptist Church of which she was a lifetime member and active until health problems prevented her from participating. She loved God
and often thanked Him for many blessings and how great He was. She was a devoted and thankful servant of the Lord.
She is survived by her five daughters, Carol Dudley Curtis of Four Oaks, NC, Peggy Davis Duran of Rodanthe, NC, Roberta "Boo" Davis Matthews (Thelton) of Murfreesboro, NC, Teresa "Layne" Davis Bondarek of Henrico, NC, and Barbara "Bobbi" Davis Perdue (Robbie White) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; nine grandchildren, JD Howell (Kim), Herman Lee Clark, Jr., April Marie Matthews, Candace Stroud (Zack), Kristian Perdue Barber (Justin), Frankie Matthews (Brittney), Abigayle Perdue Smith (Tyler), Josh White (Michelle), Brandon White, Ashlyn Blanchard (Will); fifteen great-grandchildren, Cody Pounds, Emily Pounds, Leyanna Clark, Leonidas Clark, Jeliyah Miller, Nkenge Roberts, Harmony White, Alaina White, Justin Barber, Jr., Addisyn Dickens, Declan Barber, Avalyn Blanchard, Auden Matthews, Ellie Matthews and Emersyn Smith; her sister and brother-in-law,
Frankie Johnson Cooke and Billy Cooke and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
The family wants to especially thank Gentiva Hospice of Roanoke Rapids for the wonderful care provided to her by Angela, Ashley, Mandy, Valerie and Sarah; her special caregivers who became family to us, Lydia, Selma, Terry and Glenn and to all of
the Galatia Baptist Church and Community.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday March 11, 2025 at Galatia Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Rose officiating.
Entombment will follow in Seaboard Cemetery, Seaboard, NC
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services, Jackson-Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
