Blanche Reed Pratt was born on October 20, 1928, in Sibley, Mississippi, to the union of Eddie Winding and Lizzie Winding Lewis. At an early age, Blanche accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Zion Chapel in Kingston, MS, grounding her life in faith, humility, and service. In 1945, Blanche made New Orleans her home after marrying her beloved husband, Frank Reed, Sr. Their 48-year marriage was a testament to commitment, love, and perseverance, lasting until his passing. From this union, twelve children were born-five sons and seven daughters-each a living reflection of her strength and devotion. In 1995, God sent her another loving husband, James Pratt. Their union lasted until his death in 2002. During this union, he brought her great joy as they traveled to many family reunions and visited family and friends across the United States. Blanche was a faithful member of Beulah Land Baptist Church for over 40 years, as well as St. Paul C.O.G.I.C. and Lighthouse NOLA Church (Fort Worth, Texas and
New Orleans, LA) for over 20 years. Blanche was preceded in death by her parents Eddie Winding and Lizzie Winding Lewis; four brothers, Otis Winding, Frank Winding (Uncle Harry), Eddie Winding, Jr., Albert Winding (Uncle Robud); two sisters, Dorothy Barnes (Aunt Neicy), and Willie Mae Mazique; husbands Frank Reed Sr. and James Pratt; one daughter, Augustine Reed Grant; one son, Kenneth Reed, Sr.; one daughter-in-law, Hazel Johnson Reed; four sons-in-law, William Grant III, Larry Paisant, Sr., Larry Rochon, and Willie Green; one grand-daughter, Leandra Simone Paisant; two grandsons, Morris Reed, Jr. and Terrence Jerome Reed, Jr.; and one great-grandson, William Grant V (Lil Will). Blanche leaves to cherish her loving memories, one sister, Julia Mae Winding Gaines, four loving sons, Frank Reed, Jr., Morris Reed, Sr., Michael Reed, Sr., and Terence Jerome Reed, Sr. (Stephanie), six beautiful daughters, Ruby Reed Rochon, Diane Reed Green, Brenda Reed McCree (Mack), Linda Reed Paisant, Gail Reed Davis (Kenneth, Sr.), and Tracie Reed Copper (Vladimir); and one goddaughter, Sonia Osborne. Maw Maw was loving and caring to 35 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and church family members. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Monday, January 19, 2026, for 11:00 a.m. at First Pilgrims Baptist Church, 1228 Arts Street,
