Blanche Bearden Sarratt, age 63 of Tuscaloosa, passed away June 6, 2024 surrounded by family at home. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Diane Houser officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service.
She is preceded in death by her father, William F. Bearden. She is survived by her mother, Bernice Stone Bearden, sisters Terri Llewellyn (Peter), Evonne Brown (Tommy), Shannon Moore (Dennis), six nephews, and four great nieces.
Blanche loved books and reading, music, old movies, traveling, Alabama football and Coach Saban, Starbucks, and Paris. She also loved her job at the University of Alabama Press - working with books and authors was perfect for her. She loved spending time with family and most of all, she loved to laugh. Her beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Honorary pallbearers are friends at the UA Press; Manderson Cancer Center Dr. David Hinton, nurses, and staff; Dr. John Miller; Dr. Donald Gross; ICU doctors, nurses, and staff at Grandview Hospital; and Amedisys Hospice nurses.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
