Blas Garcia, Jr.
Blas Garcia Jr., 85 a longtime resident of Bosque Farms, NM passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at his home following an illness. He was surrounded by his family.
Blas was born on July 21, 1938 in Encino, NM to Blas and Ursula (Madril) Garcia. He attended school in Encino and left the family home very young to look for work. He held several jobs before he found his true calling as a truck driver. He lived in Albuquerque for several years and then settled in Bosque Farms.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He traveled a lot both for work and pleasure. He made an annual trip to the Mother Cabrini Shrine in Golden Colorado for many years.
Blas was preceded in death by his father, Blas Garcia Sr. and his mother Ursula Garcia. Also, his brothers Luis Garcia, Jerry Garcia, Ambrosio Garcia, Christobal Garcia, Luciano Garcia and sisters Magdalena Sandoval, Estella Trujillo and Anna Ruth Chavez.
A Holy Rosary will be recited on Friday, March 8th at 10:00 am with Funeral Mass following at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Encino, NM. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery in Encino, NM.
Pallbearers will include Blas's nieces and nephews, Ramoncita Arguello, Carlos Garcia, Louie Garcia, Ursula Gonzales, Frederick Rivera and Bobby Sanchez.
Arrangements are under the direction of Riverside Funeral Home, 820 Main St., NE, Los Lunas, NM.
