Bo Borer Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory - Sandusky Chapel on Oct. 1, 2025.
Bo (Phillip) Michael Borer left this earth on June 10, 2025, after a long life at the age of 84. Born to Ervin and Dorothy (Haslinger) on September 21, 1940, Bo was a soldier, a teacher, and a carpenter. He lived a full and meaningful life as a son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, husband, and friend.
He leaves behind four children: Amanda (Keith) Marok, Joseph (Karina) Borer, Lucas (Autumn) Borer, and Sarah (Alex) Beard, along with 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Bo graduated from Fremont St. Joseph High School in 1958 and went on to serve overseas in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He spent a total of six years in the Army until 1969. While still enlisted, Bo earned a degree in Art Education from BGSU in 1970 and began his teaching career in Bellevue.
Later in life, Bo married Victoria (Vicky) Carnicom (Borer) in June of 2011, sharing many wonderful years together in Fremont, OH. He adored Vicky and enjoyed traveling to Amish Country with Vicky and her mother, Sue. The three of them also made sure to attend all of the Borer/Franks family holidays and celebrations with his children's families. Vicky sadly passed away less than two weeks before Bo on May 30, 2025.
Bo had remained close friends with Cathy Black, the mother of his four children and wife of 22 years, throughout his entire life. He regularly visited, spending his extra time caring for the farm and feeding the resident animals.
A man of strong Catholic faith, Bo was a talented carpenter who built his family home in 1974. He valued clean eating and physical fitness and was an avid weight lifter well into his 60s. He often volunteered around Fremont and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He always enjoyed a good cup of coffee and could often find him at the old Rudy's in Fremont.
Preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jerry (Barb) Borer, Rosemary (Amos) Fitzwater, and Margaret (Don) Schell, Bo is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins from both the Borer and Haslinger families, including nephew Mike Borer and niece Lori Borer-Vallance. He especially enjoyed going to the yearly Haslinger Family Reunions.
Bo will always be remembered as a loving and integral part of our lives. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. "Rest easy, old man."
A private family service will be held for Bo and Vicky on June 20th.
"Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May Bo rest in peace. Amen."
