FORT VALLEY – Robert Holtzclaw "Bob" Almon passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025, after an extended illness. He was 93 years old. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Oaklawn Cemetery in Fort Valley. Bob was born on January 23, 1932, in Fort Valley, Georgia, to the late Carl Baskin Almon and the late Louise Marietta Holtzclaw Almon. A graduate of Fort Valley High School, he continued his education at Presbyterian College where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry. A patriotic veteran, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years in Strategic Air Command as a Navigator. He also served in the Air Force Reserves. Bob lived most of his adult life in the Atlanta/Stone Mountain area. For over forty years, he worked as a Loss Prevention Specialist with Factory Mutual Insurance Company in their industrial insurance department, assisting large corporations like Lockheed-Martin, etc. Upon his retirement, Bob moved back to Middle Georgia to be near family. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his loving and devoted wife of nearly fifty years, Penelope Vinson Almon; and his sisters, Sarah Little and Louise Riddles. Left to cherish the memories they made with Bob are his daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Abdallah Benaissa of Perry, and Kate and J.W. Naftel of Madison; his grandsons and their wives, Robert and Lauren Myatt of Augusta, and Alex and Lanier Myatt of Perry; his granddaughter, Penelope Naftel of Madison; and one great-granddaughter, Anna Lynn Myatt. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
