Bob Hicks Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Homes - Chesterton Chapel on Jan. 10, 2026.
Bob (Bobby) Hicks passed away peacefully on January 4th. Bob was a graduate of the Chesterton Class of 1957 and received his BA in Mathematics from Valparaiso Indiana University. He started his career at Inland Steel and remained in the steel manufacturing industry until retirement. Bob's family were long-time residents of Porter and Chesterton. Bob and his second wife, Lynn loved to travel especially out west and were always accompanied by his sister-in-law Patty Frantz. They lived in many different places but made their final home in Ogden Dunes, Indiana. Many Ogden Dunes residents will remember him as the guy accompanied by his loyal yellow lab, Gracie who would have treats for all the dogs passing by their house. Bob loved the lake and was very protective of the deer, squirrels and other critters that walked through his backyard in the Dunes. Bob had a great sense of humor and had many wonderful adventures with his family and friends. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his daughters/grandchildren: Vicki (Alex), Cyndi (Adi and Nathaniel), Stephanie (Cody/Audrey and Conner/Chandler), Jennifer (Emery/Keely), Shelley/Brian (William) three great-grandchildren, Thomas, Wesley and Lily Rose and his brother Harold Lee (Howdy). He is proceeded in death by his wife Lynn, his parents Arthur and Anna and his siblings Mary and George. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday January 31st from 1-5pm at his home at 10 Diana Rd, in Ogden Dunes, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: Humane Indiana Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center: www.humaneindiana.org or Friends of the Dunes: www.Indianadunes.com
