Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carr Funeral Home on Dec. 20, 2025.
The Reverend Bob W. Hunt of
Guntersville, Alabama passed away at his home on December 19, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born in 1933, he was a graduate of Albertville High School (1951), Howard College (now Samford University, 1955), and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (1958).
He first saw his future bride, Rosalie Hall, when she was only 15 years old and Bob was on a summer mission event at the church in Oklahoma where Rosalie's father was then pastor. Bob and Rosalie met again a few years later at a Christmas missions conference and then were married in 1957. Together they served churches and were involved in student ministry in Mississippi until they were appointed as missionaries by the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in 1961. They served in Taiwan until 1972, when they returned to Alabama and Bob became Associate Pastor and Youth Minister at the First Baptist Church in Boaz. It was there Bob established a ministry center at The Lighthouse that had an indelible impact on the lives of many young people from across Sand Mountain.
In 1980, Bob and Rosalie were reappointed by the Foreign Mission Board and served in Hong Kong. During the time there they had opportunities for projects in China. They later served in the Philippines and in Australia, and did itinerant work in India and Malaysia as well. Altogether they lived and worked overseas for more than 30 years before returning to Alabama, where Bob served as Associate Pastor at the First Baptist Church in Guntersville and where they have since remained members.
Bob is predeceased by his parents Carl and Ora Hunt, his brother Joe (Catherine), and his parents-in-law Harold and Alice Hall. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rosalie, his daughter Alice, his son Jody (Lori), his grandchildren Carl John Hudiburg (Stephanie), Eric Justus Hudiburg (Jordan), Aidan Windsor Hunt (fiancé Jackie Brooks), Gannon Wells Hunt and McKenna Ann-Luree Mellichamp Hunt, his great-grandchildren Bobby Hudiburg and Freddy Hudiburg, his sister Drucilla Almon, his nephews Wayne Hunt (Bonnie) and Bobby Hunt, his nieces Joan Hunt Edwards (Mel) and Janis Hunt Burns (Randy), and his nephews Bill Almon (Jennifer) and Link Almon (Jenny).
