Bob Joy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Whitt Funeral Home & Oakcrest Cremation Center on Dec. 2, 2025.
Robert "Bob" Joy was born on October 19, 1945 in Bryan, Texas to MC "Happy" and Irene (Thompson) Joy. He passed away at his home in Marlow, Oklahoma on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the age of 80. He lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an uplifting spirit that touched everyone who knew him.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Bob was known for his humor, his positivity, and his unwavering belief in living each day with love and laughter. He was married to his first wife, Paula Joy, for 51 years. After her passing, life brought great love and companionship again when he married Theresa Corrales Joy, with whom he shared the last six years. She kept him young, on his toes, and brought him so much JOY.
Bob graduated from Hope High School in Hope, Arkansas and then joined the Air Force in 1964 where he proudly served for 4 years. After retirement, he devoted many years serving his community as a school bus driver. He took pride in safely carrying generations of children to and from school, always greeting them with a smile and a kind word. A lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners football, Bob loved cheering on his teams. He also cherished traveling with his wife, creating memories together that will be treasured by their family.
Family was at the center of his world. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. Known for his knack for fixing things, he could repair just about anything, and he delighted in cooking-always eager to serve up a hearty meal to anyone who came through his door.
He was preceded in death by his parents, MC "Happy" Joy and Irene T. Joy; his late wife, Paula Joy; his siblings: Clifton Joy, Johnny Joy, James Joy, David Joy, and Elizabeth Waller; and twin grandchildren, Will Roberts and Joy Roberts.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Corrales Joy; his children, Mike Joy and his wife Aileena, Kathy Roberts; step-children: Jessica Emerson and husband Jesse, Megan Solomon, Amanda Keller and husband Terry; grandchildren: Cassandra Tengbeh Joy, Sam Roberts, Nick Roberts, Emerson Roberts,
Ean Joy, Zachary Joy, Emma "Sam" Joy; step-grandchildren: Travis Harrop, Arrabella Solomon, Danielle Keller, Leanne Shumate, Hazel Little, Lynsey Emerson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial service is planned for 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 3, in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with pastor Sam Buzzard officiating.
