Heaven is a lot brighter now after welcoming Robert Bennett Lawson (Bob) on November 19th, 2025. He was born in Hamilton, TX on August 2nd, 1936. Growing up, he was very active in sports and because of his school spirit, he became a cheerleader before graduating from Dublin High School, Class of 1954. In August of 1956, he married his love, Beverly Crowley, and they had two beautiful children together.

Bob was the guy everyone enjoyed being around. His laugh was infectious, and he brightened every room he entered. He was the life of the party–optimistic, hilarious, and full of joy! He opened his heart to countless people, never hesitating if they needed help. He was a genuine and noble person who donated to many charities over the years. He loved his family unconditionally, and was always proud of his kids and only grandchild, Kayla. Those two were a team! He attended her school events, recitals, and Kids Who Care performances, and bragged about her to everyone he knew.

Because of his strong work ethic and versatility, he excelled in all of his career endeavors. He drove a milk truck for a while in the Stephenville area, where he lived for some time. Later, he moved to Burleson and worked for 3-Way Dairy Supply, then General Dynamics until he chose to go into the grocery business. He was a store manager with Safeway in Fort Worth for a number of years and served as President of the Safeway Employees Association–Dallas Region in 1977. As an entrepreneur, he owned several businesses, including: Washing on Wheels, Punkin Patch Daycare, Tri-County Vending, and at the age of 72, he retired from Valero. He was great with people, smart in business, and meticulously organized.

In Bob’s pastime, he loved being with family, singing, doing crossword puzzles, taking occasional trips to WinStar with his sister-in-law, Cathy, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He was proud to be a lifelong fan, in good times and bad. As a huge advocate of positive thinking, he drew inspiration from Joel Osteen’s uplifting messages every Sunday. This motivated him to tape a note to his door that read “Today Is A Good Day.”

With his final papers, we found his note that read, “Don’t be sad for me, I’m with my family now.” After many years apart, he is now with his parents, Wayne and Pearl (Gilbert) Lawson; brother, James Lawson; and sister, Evelyn Pattison. He is survived by his son, Ricky Lawson of Burleson; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Steve Nicholson of Burleson; granddaughter, Kayla Lawson Vanhoose of Dallas; and (nine) nieces –all of whom he loved very much.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be at 2pm on Friday, December 19th, 2025, at the Winscott Road Funeral Home, in Benbrook, Texas. Those attending are welcome to come casual, as he hated neckties. Dallas Cowboys attire is also encouraged!
