Scott Lawson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center - Morton on Dec. 4, 2025.
MACKINAW – Scott W. Lawson, 63, of Mackinaw, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
He was born on March 4, 1962, in Peoria, Illinois, to Robert and Deloris (Friedrich) Lawson. Scott married Anne Neeman on June 9, 1990, in Funks Grove, Illinois.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Anne Lawson of Mackinaw; children, Tim (Ashley) Chambliss, Deidre (Wesley) Bussey, Cheyanne (Kyle Musselman) Lawson, Matt Lawson and Eli Lawson; grandchildren, Reed, Reese, Stella, Jozie, Zoey and Myles; brother, John Lawson of Pekin; sisters, Sandee (Lonnie) Jones of Allenspark, Colorado and Sherry (Ed) Donahue of Somerset, Kentucky; mother-in-law, Carolyn Neeman; brother-in-law, Scott (Lisa) Neeman of Crestview, Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Vicki Rice and father-in-law, Earl Neeman.
Scott was a 1981 graduate of DeeMack High School. He was a truck driver for XPO Logistics (Con-Way Freight). He found great purpose in providing for his family. Some of the other jobs he had over the years were at Crabtree's Gas Station, Seven Acres Restaurant, Farm & Fleet, Union Camp Paper Manufacturing, Fitzgerald Equipment, Keen Transport, AirLand Transportation, Walter's Trucking, and Glick Trucking.
One of Scott's greatest joys in life was his family and friends. He also loved being outside, taking care of his yard, washing his cars, and watching his children ride motorcycles or go-karts. Scott loved collecting Tonka toys and having a good conversation about old times, trucking, Facebook marketplace deals and his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time in his garage while blasting tunes for the neighborhood and sipping ice cold Mountain Dew. Scott made it a priority to reach out to his friends and family whether it be through a phone call or voicemail, whenever you crossed his mind.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Living Hope Community Church in Hopedale. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 pm, Saturday, December 6, at the church. Burial will be at New Castle Bible Church Cemetery in Mackinaw.
Memorials may be made to Christian Life Academy or New Castle Bible Church.
