Robert "Bob" Lofgren, 70, of San Diego, CA, passed away on July 24, 2023 after a brief battle with brain cancer.
Bob was born on April 15, 1953 to Kathryn and Donald Lofgren in Los Angeles. After graduating from Royal High School in 1970, he went on to study Bible and Greek at Grace College & Seminary. He later studied Speech and Debate, Sociology, and French Existentialism at Moorpark College. He transferred to Johnston College at the University of Redlands, where he majored in Philosophy and Literature, and graduated in 1976. Bob went on to study Law at Yale University and graduated with his J.D. in 1984.
As an attorney, Bob worked in various law firms in Connecticut and California. He later went on to work in other fields, including biotechnology, solar production, and teaching law.
Bob married Nancie in 1983 and had two children: Joshua Robert, born in 1989 and Marlayna Rose, born in 1990. Bob became a grandpa in 2021 to Delaney Rose and Cecilia Grace (2022), Marlayna and Dane's daughters. Bob is survived by his spouse whom he married in 2016, Tricia Redolme, and she resides in their home in Normal Heights (San Diego), CA.
Anyone who knew Bob knew that he was idiosyncratic, eccentric and intelligent. Bob was predeceased by his parents Kathryn McCullough, Lewis McCullough, and Wayne Summa, and his nephew, Travis Rossi. He is survived by his sister Audrey Sheffield (Brad), his brother Kurt Summa (Karen), and his sister Lucy Dion, as well as nieces and nephews, Amanda, Amber, Justin, Jason, and Breanna.
The family requests that all flowers and notes be sent to 4721 Bancroft St. San Diego, CA 92116. There will be a funeral service at St. Patrick's Parish in Carlsbad, CA on Monday, August 28th at 11 am, and a reception to follow at the family home in Carlsbad.
