Bob Sheldon

Robert E. Sheldon, affectionately known as "Bob", 82, of Simsbury, Connecticut and Holden Beach, North Carolina, beloved husband of the late Patricia Sheldon, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026.

Born and raised in Hartford, he was the son of the late Erwin and Mary (Casasanta) Sheldon and a graduate of Bulkeley High School. Robert dedicated 42 years of his career to Wonder Bread before retiring in 2007.

He and his wife Patricia made their home in Windsor for 50 years, where they raised their family and built a life centered around love, community, humor and generosity. Bob found great joy in coaching his children's sports teams and was especially proud of his involvement with Windsor Little League. Affectionately known as "The Bun Man," he supplied buns for countless concession stand meals, becoming a familiar and cherished presence at the fields. When not coaching, he was enthusiastically cheering his children's teams on the sidelines!

Following retirement, Bob and Pat settled in Holden Beach, North Carolina where they enjoyed spending time with their circle of friends, giving treats to neighborhood dogs, and long walks along the ocean. He quickly became known as the social mayor of the 300 Block of Holden Beach. Bob had a gift for making people feel welcome and was a second father to many of his children's friends. He took great pride in creating a home where everyone felt they belonged and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He truly loved and cherished his children, grandchildren and friends.

Bob is survived by his son, Timothy Sheldon and his wife Wendy of Westfield, MA; his daughter, Tina O'Sullivan and her husband Liam of Simsbury; his son, Todd Sheldon and his wife Jennifer of Simsbury; and his daughter, Tracy Genetti-Hume and her husband Gene of Asheville, NC. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Nicolas, Jack, Emma, Adelaide, Gia, Fiona, Amelia, and Maddie; and his sisters, Cynthia Gould and Cathy Adams, both of Florida. In addition to his wife Patricia and his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Sharon Pedemonti.

Family and friends are invited to join for a Memorial Gathering to share memories and celebrate Bob's life on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor, CT.
