Bobbi Hawkinson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bowin Funeral Home on Feb. 8, 2026.
Barbara Gale Lambertson Hawkinson a/k/a "Bobbi G" arrived in this world on August 10, 1948, and departed to her Heavenly home on February 3, 2026, at 77 years of age.

Bobbi was the firstborn of Everett Joseph Lambertson and Marjory Batterson Lambertson. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Akron, where she and her siblings were involved in livestock, 4-H and farm life. She joined 4-H at age 9 and was a member of the Rock Ridge 4-H Club. Later she became a charter member of Country Club 4-H. She prided herself on having the Grand Champion Dairy with her Jersey Susie Q. Bobbi loved horses, so she was also part of the Washington County Drill Team. Fair was always a fun and important part of her life. She was the Round Up Queen in 1965. Later in life, she was selected to be the 2020 Grand Marshal of the Eastern Colorado Roundup, which she stated "was a dream come true" for her.

Bobbi found a nursing career beckoning her. She served in the JUGS program all four years of high school and went on to study nursing for two years at Colorado State College, which is now University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.

She met and married Kenneth Hawkinson on November 2, 1968. To this union, three sons were born: Scott William, Brad Miller and Neil Joseph. Her sons were the highlight of her life, and she prided herself in being their mother. She loved doing anything she could for each of them.

Kenny and Bobbi lived in Washington State for almost 7 years. While there, she worked as the Medical Record Supervisor for the largest Nursing Home Center in the state.

Kenny and Bobbi returned to Akron and eventually settled on a farm northeast of Akron. The love of livestock, horses, and fair passed on to the boys' generation, and Bobbi reveled watching her sons love what she had loved! The boys were 4-H members and Bobbi served as a 4-H leader for many years.

Bobbi continued to work after moving back, first as a teacher's aide at the Akron Elementary and was a member of the Accountability program. She started her employment with YW Electric on November 19, 1979, and worked there until her retirement. She served 36+ years. She absolutely loved and cared for the people she worked with!

Bobbi loved and thrived every minute she could watch her sons grow up and attend the Akron Schools. She rarely missed an event, sports or otherwise, and wore the "Proud Mom" banner well! Becoming a grandmother to Halle Mae was another highlight of her life. She loved every minute of time that she got to spend with her and watch an activity she was involved in. The beauty of that granddaughter melted Bobbi's heart!

Bobbi was a huge supporter of not only her sons, but every niece/nephew would find her traveling to watch them and cheer them on. She wasn't going to miss anything she could attend. Even her great nieces/nephews found her in the stands repeatedly. Her last outing was watching a great niece play coach pitch ball across the street from her house last summer. She insisted on being wheelchaired over so not to miss watching her. She proudly wore every team apparel that represented Akron and every other team anyone was involved in. I guarantee her sons knew she was in the crowd cheering for them through all the years and no one could have been a greater supporter than Bobbi!

Family was the most important thing in life to Bobbi! She cherished every time they could be together up until her health declined. She loved reunions and holidays. They truly held meaning to her heart.

Bobbi loved pictures and was the photographer at all events whether you knew it or not! Family gets surprised from time to time with what is discovered in a photo! One thing for sure, if you needed a picture from an event….Bobbi would have it. Her pictures were prize possessions!

Belonging was always very important to Bobbi, so becoming part of the ESA Gamma Omega Sorority was held in very high regard. She loved working and serving with her sorority sisters on philanthropic projects, especially for the St. Jude's Children's Cancer Hospital. Her sorority sisters were her very true and best friends. She loved every one of them deeply and was grateful for their assistance in the many conventions attended. Bobbi held many offices and chairs locally, in the district and statewide. She was named the State "Woman of the Year" in 1999 and was installed as the State President on May 19th, 2000.

Bobbi also loved the Lord. She accepted Him as her Savior on October 4, 1970, and was baptized on November 1, 1970, by the Rev. JC Avants at the Akron Foursquare Church. She held the office of President of the United Foursquare Women for two years and helped with Vacation Bible School. She always loved the women's events held.

Preceding Bobbi in death were her parents, Everett Lambertson, Marjory Lambertson Goodwin, and Jackie Goodwin; Ex-husband Kenny Hawkinson and his parents, Francis & Margaret Hawkinson; Son Neil Joseph Hawkinson; Sisters Cheryl Worthley Wynn, and Patti Snow Bashor; Brother-in-laws Bob Hamblin, Bob Worthley, Paul Wynn and Tom Bashor; and Nephews Cullen Glosson and Blair Worthley.

Collins; Sister-in Laws Marlene(John Glosson) Akron; Carol (Steve) Fox, Greeley along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a wonderful host of friends. Left behind is also Bobbi's sweet little grand dog, Lilly, who was right beside her when she took her last breath.

A Memorial service will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Akron Foursquare Church with her nephew, Dr. Rev. Tyson Lambertson officiating and Pastor Rich Moon assisting. Inurnment will follow at the Akron Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Bowin Funeral Home.
