Mrs. Bobbie Sue Hughes Allen, 79, of Elberton, GA, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.
Born on June 16, 1944, in Elberton, GA, daughter of the late John Henry Hughes and Alice Sue Allen Hughes, Bobbie Sue joined Oak Grove Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member as long as her health permitted. She worked at Spring Valley Health Care Center for over 20 years.
She was married to the late Johnny Albert Allen, Sr. and to this union six children, all of whom survive, were born: Sharon Allen of Athens, GA, Robin (James) Anderson of Elberton, GA, Johnny Allen, Jr. of Pickens, SC, Tracy Allen of Elberton, GA, Nicole (Marvin) White of Austell, GA, and Joseph (Renetta) Allen of Danielsville, GA. She also leaves behind her siblings: Phyllis Lewis, Donnie (Patricia) Hughes, Ronnie (Shirley) Hughes, and Johnny Howard Hughes, all of Elberton, GA; sister-in-law, Adele Hughes of Elberton, GA; brother-in-law, Frank Williams of Lavonia, GA; aunts: Everlena Alexander and Willera Allen; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Willie James Hughes, Walter Lewis Hughes, Ophelia Williams, Phillip Hughes, and Eugene Hughes.
Bobbie Sue will lie in repose on Wednesday, August 30, from 10:00a.m.-5:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home for those wishing to pay their respects and sign the guestbook.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, August 31, at 2:00p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. Bobbie Sue will be placed in the church at 1:00p.m. The family is at the home of her granddaughter, Tia Allen, 40 Morgan Way, Colbert.
