Bobbie “Gail” Kennon Eggers, 73, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
A funeral service will be held at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 30th, 2024, at 4:00 PM with Rev. Sue Anne Morris officiating. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 5:00- 7:00 PM on Saturday, June 29, 2024, and other times at the home of her daughter, Brandie. Burial will follow the service at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Gail was born in Rockingham County to the late Emmitt and Barbara Kennon. She faithfully served at Hickory Grove United Methodist and Ruffin United Methodist alongside her husband for many years. Gail always said when Lee got the call into the ministry that “God didn’t shake my side of the bed!” but God knew how she needed to be used. He led her to bring back to life Children’s Church at Hickory Grove United Methodist due to her love of children and wanting to teach them about Jesus. Gail was very active with both the Methodist Women’s groups at Hickory Grove United Methodist and Ruffin United Methodist and was a regular participant at Ruffin’s Bible study. God also gave her the love of talking which led her to never meeting a stranger and sharing God’s message to the world. Her church family always points out that she is always the last to sit down for worship because she’s “visiting” with everyone. She loved animals, especially birds, except crows and hawks. One of her favorite things to do was sit on the deck with Andy the cat. Gail always loved the snow and Christmas. Family joke, Mia was the “favorite” grandchild but she also loved Isabella and Justin. Her smile could light up a room and warm even the coldest heart. Always remember what she would say, “Dandelions are not weeds, they are wishes”.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Tim Miller; granddaughter, Tabitha Miller; brother, Bo Kennon and son-in-law, Allan Bull.
Gail is survived by her husband of 37 years, Lee Eggers; Children, Brandie Brown (Eric) and Angela Bull; grandchildren, Justin Miller (Danielle) and Isabella Brown; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn, and Mia; beloved feline companion, Andy; daughter in love Amy Stephens and great granddaughter in love Ella Grace; as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
