Bobbie Jo Barnes Langston
December 31, 1933 – April 21,2024
Mrs. Bobbie Langston, age 90, of Smyrna, GA passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, an adored grandmother and great grandmother, and a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Bobbie, an only child, was born on December 31, 1933 to Reverend Joseph Paul Barnes and Dersie Shadburn Barnes in Gainesville, Georgia. She graduated from O’Keefe High School in Atlanta, Georgia and was a data input supervisor for Hanover Insurance. She also served as a deacon’s wife at Locust Grove Baptist Church in Smyrna, GA, Hurt Road Baptist Church in Smyrna, Georgia, and Calvary Baptist Church in Austell, Georgia.
On November 2, 1952, Bobbie married Harry Leon Langston following Harry’s deployment to South Korea during the Korean War. Their only daughter, Vickie (Langston) Cosby, was born a year and a half later. Bobbie enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and going to church. She loved on and spoiled her granddaughters and great grandchildren. She spent many hours watching her granddaughters play softball, spending time with her great grandchildren at her house, and attending their basketball games and orchestra concerts.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Paul and Dersie Barnes, and son-in-law, Dennis Cosby.
Bobbie is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Harry Langston of Smyrna, GA; daughter, Vickie Cosby of Smyrna, GA; granddaughter and son-in-law, Kacie and Wayne Phipps of Mableton, GA; granddaughter and son-in-law, Kimberlie & Jacob Keene of Berkley Lake, GA; great-grandsons, Harrison Phipps, Hollis Phipps, and Langston Keene; and great-granddaughter, Quinn Keene.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Phipps officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home before the service on Saturday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Burial at Georgia National Cemetery will occur at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Unity Baptist Church Building Fund.
