Ms. Bobbie Jo Laster Rolen, age 90, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025.
She was born on Friday, December 28, 1934, to the late Mr. John T. Laster and Mrs. Janie Lou Cleary Laster.
Bobbie Jo lived out her entire lifetime in Dalton, Georgia, making many friends throughout the years. She attended Valley Point High School and went on to marry Mr. V.C. Rolen in 1949. They spent 29 years together and had three children. She spent the majority of her career working for Texture Tex and W.F. Taylor, Inc. It was during her working years that she developed numerous close and meaningful friendships. She was a faithful and dedicated Christian, attending McFarland Hill Baptist Church, and then later moving to Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church. She loved gardening, especially flowers; she particularly loved making beautiful and intricate flower arrangements. She also loved baking and decorating cakes. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Bobbie Jo is preceded in death by her three sisters: Ruby Allmon, Carrie Holsomback, and Mary Lou Goble, all of Dalton. She is also preceded in death by three of her brothers: Johnny Laster of Dallas, James T. Laster of Dalton, and W.R. Laster of Floyd County.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Randall (Carolyn) Rolen of Ringgold; her daughter, Bobbie Jean (Jerry) Barnes of Dalton; and her son Arthur Phillip Rolen. She is also survived by two of her brothers, Jack Laster and Frank Laster, both of Dalton.
Bobbie Jo is also survived by her grandchildren: Jonathan Bartley (Kate) Rolen of Lookout Mountain, Sarah Mullins, Jessica Brewer, Nicole Rolen, and Zachary Rolen, all of Dalton, and Amanda Siskey of Alabama. Additionally, Bobbie Jo is survived by several great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services to honor and celebrate the life of Ms. Bobbie Jo Laster Rolen will be conducted on Tuesday, April 22, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Reverend Ronald Guffey officiating. Bobbie Jo will be laid to rest following the service in her family's plot at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday evening, April 21, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Love Funeral Home.
