Bobbie McGee Posey, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 4, 2026, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on April 19, 1953, in Mobile, Alabama, she was a radiant light in the lives of those who knew her, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love and kindness.
Bobbie's education and dedication to her community were a testament to her character. Following her graduation from high school in Mobile, she continued her studies at Bishop State, earning an associate degree before attending Tuskegee University. Her pursuits were complemented by her service in the U.S. Navy, where she was stationed in various locations, including Mississippi, California, and Rhode Island. This chapter of her life not only shaped who she was but also instilled in her a deep sense of pride and commitment to her country.
After her active duty, Bobbie made Morton, Mississippi, her home, where she became an active member of the Christian Triumph M.B. Church. She created a warm and welcoming environment for her family, friends, and church community. Bobbie was known for her vibrant personality and her passion for spending time with her beloved family, particularly her grandchildren, whom she adored. She enjoyed every moment shared with her grandchildren—Jaya and Christian. She loved her nieces and nephews as her very own.
Bobbie is survived by her devoted husband, Billy F. Posey; her father Gus McGee Jr., her beloved daughter, Ashley Joy Gillard (Mark); her stepdaughter, Angela Posey; her grandson Brandon Posey, her brothers, Gus (Lilly) McGee III, William McGee; and a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will carry her memory in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary McGee, and her brother, Paul McGee.
As family and friends gather to celebrate her remarkable life, visitation services will be held at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton on March 9, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Additional visitation will take place at Christian Triumph M.B. Church on March 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM, leading up to her funeral service at 1:00 PM.
Bobbie McGee Posey will be remembered for her unwavering love, her spirit of service, and her capacity to bring people together. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
