Jimmy H. Bailey, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 19, 2026, at Merit River Oaks Hospital. He was born on March 30, 1944, in Smith County, Mississippi, where he spent his early years before embarking on a life dedicated to family and service.
Jimmy was a self-employed hydraulic specialist, known for his unwavering work ethic and remarkable ability to fix just about anything. His meticulous nature and professionalism earned him the respect of his peers and clients alike. After retiring, he embraced a new role as the "gate man" at the Hollingsworth Auctions, where he continued to engage with his community and friends.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Jimmy served his country with honor and dedication. Throughout his life, he remained deeply involved in his local church, Salem Baptist Church, where he formed lasting connections with the congregation that he cherished as a second family. Jimmy was known for his love of fishing, gardening and spending quality time with his family, which he valued above all else.
He is survived by his loving wife, Geneva Sistrunk Bailey, with whom he shared a marriage that lasted 61 wonderful years. Together, they cultivated a warm and nurturing home that welcomed their children and grandchildren. Jimmy is also survived by his daughter, Pamela Sullivan (Packy); his son, Anthony Bailey; his daughter, Paula Robinson (Bruce); and his grandchildren Bailey Robinson, Destiny Robinson, Harley Bailey, Noah Sullivan, and great-grandson Miles Bailey Robinson.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Mattie Merle Bailey, as well as his brothers: Robert, Paul Ray, Walter K., and Ralph Bailey.
The legacy Jimmy leaves behind is one of love, faith, and a passion for life that touched the hearts of many. He will be remembered fondly for his kind spirit and the impact he had on those around him.
Visitation will be held on February 23, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 11:45 PM at Salem Baptist Church in Lake, Mississippi, followed by a funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. There will be no graveside services. His family invites all who knew him to join in celebrating his remarkable life and to honor the cherished memories he leaves behind.
