Bobbie "Grannie" Richards, a beloved member of the Cumming, Georgia community, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on February 19, 1937, in Cumming, Georgia, Bobbie spent her entire life in the town she called home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Floyd Richards Sr.; her son, Alton Floyd Richards Jr. (Al) and his wife Kellie Richards; son in law, Jeff Perry; her parents, Eugene and Grace Stone; her sister Carolyn McGinnis; and her brothers Jimmy Stone and Glendal Stone. She is survived by her daughters Teresa Garrett; Vivian Bennett and her husband Alan Bennett; Gloria Perry; grandchildren Tracie Henderson Gibbs and her husband Philip; A.J. Bobbie’s life was defined by love for her family and an extraordinary talent for creating warmth through her many skills. Known for cooking the best Southern meals imaginable, she brought joy to countless gatherings with dishes that were as comforting as they were delicious. Her hands were rarely idle—she could sew, crochet, knit, and craft with remarkable ease. Whether it was a handmade gift or a lovingly prepared meal, Bobbie’s creations were a testament to her care for those around her. She also enjoyed spending time playing board games like Rook or Yahtzee, card games with friends and family, or working on puzzles that challenged the mind while bringing people together. These simple joys reflected Bobbie’s vivacious spirit and love of connection.
A woman of deep faith, Bobbie was a dedicated member of Longstreet Baptist Church in Cumming. She found fellowship within the church community as part of Caring Friends Women’s Group—a group that embodied the values of compassion and support that Bobbie herself lived by every day.
In addition to being a stay-at-home mom who poured herself into raising her children with love and devotion, Bobbie also worked for a time at Parsons Department Store in Cumming. Her time there reflected not only her work ethic but also her ability to connect with others in meaningful ways.
Bobbie will be remembered as a vivacious woman whose talents enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy lives on through the generations of family she nurtured with unwavering love.
May Bobbie's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
