KERNERSVILLE – Bobby Gray Blakley, 77, passed away Monday, February 24, 2025 at his home. Bobby was born on May 23, 1947 in Forsyth County to the late Howard and Kathryn Speas Blakley. Bobby grew up with a heart for helping others which led him to be a career Paramedic with Forsyth County EMS, retiring with over 25 years of service. He was a member of the first class of Paramedics in Forsyth County. Bobby was also a member of Beeson Crossroads Fire & Rescue, and he worked alongside his father as a plumber at Howard Blakley & Son Plumbing Company. Upon completion of his Plumbing Certification, he was the youngest Licensed Plumber in NC. He was a hard worker with a strong work ethic and never quit until the job was done. Bobby put the same effort into providing for his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Bobby was always ready to share a story and talk with everyone.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Lynda Brown Blakley; a daughter, Mary Lynn McDowell (husband, Bert); a son, Bobby Blakley Jr. (wife, Marsha); four grandchildren, Maggy McDowell, Cameron Blakley, Connor Blakley, and Brooke Spach; one sister, Linda Rhoades (husband, Arthur); two brothers, Billy Blakley (wife, Pat) and Johnny Blakley (wife, Robin); sisters-in-law, Janie Roberson (husband, Mike) and Donna Kiger; brother-in-law, Joe Brown (wife, Angie); and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Gideon Grove United Methodist Church in Stokesdale. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
