Bobby Gaydon Obituary

Bobby Joe Gaydon

January 13, 1936 - May 18, 2025

Bobby Joe Gaydon, 89, of Burlington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully last Sunday evening.

Born on January 3, 1936, in Graham, NC, Bobby was the beloved son of the late Joe and Opal Gaydon.

Bobby lived a full and devoted life, defined by his enduring love for family, his faith, and his tireless dedication to his community and career. He was a graduate of Elon College and proudly served in the United States Army. In his professional life, Bobby was a leader in the banking industry, serving as President of First Federal Savings and Loan and later First State Bank. Even after his official retirement, Bobby continued to help others achieve their dreams of home ownership as the owner of NC Mortgage.

A man of deep love and loyalty, Bobby was a devoted husband to his wife, Lana T. Gaydon, and a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, his cherished daughter Kimberly Deanne Gaydon, and his beloved son Joseph Kurt Gaydon. Bobby is survived by his wife, Lana T. Gaydon of Burlington; daughter, Kim Woody and her husband, Scott; grandsons, Ricki Fox and wife Morgan, and Ryan Fox and wife Hailey; great-grandson, Carter, and a great-granddaughter expected soon. He also leaves behind his sister, Betty Davis; niece, Leigh Coble Sonkens; and great-nieces, Bayleigh and Cassidy Sonkens. A proud Carolina Tar Heel fan, Bobby found joy in cheering for his team, playing golf, and spending time at the beach. He loved to travel with Lana, and he especially treasured sharing his passion for golf and Tar Heel sports with his grandsons.

Above all, Bobby will be remembered for his warm heart, his steady presence, and his unwavering love for his family.

He leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and generosity that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
