Bobby Lee Gentry

Bobby Lee Gentry, 84, of Roxboro, died peacefully surrounded by family at home, from an extended illness on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Born in Person County, he was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Gentry and Mae Gates Gentry. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Ann Taylor Gentry; two siblings: Carlyle Gentry and Margie Gentry.
Mr. Gentry served in the North Carolina National Guard. He was well remembered for playing football as a running back at Bethel Hill High School and being incredibly fast. He had a love of collecting Lionel Trains, watching sports especially, football and baseball, and Westerns. Mr. Gentry worked for Collins & Aikman for many years, the Person County Bus Garage and for Bumpass Motors delivering parts, which was his favorite job. Mr. Gentry always loved to help people in any way possible. He had a "Big" heart and a strong christian faith.
Surviving are his daughter, Jennifer Lee Gentry Wrenn and husband, Billy of Roxboro; two grandchildren: Harrison Lee Wrenn (Kelsey) and Jenna Wrenn Newton (Blaine); one great-grandchild, Maverick Lee Newton; his beloved cat, Simba "BooBoo;" two special nieces: Dianne Gentry Gallimore and Faye Gentry Collie; numerous other nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation for family and friends on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 2- 3:30 PM at Warren's Grove Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
