James Richard Brown, 66, of 194 Turtle Hill Court, Roxboro, returned home to the Lord Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Born in Guilford County, Mr. Brown was the son of late James Norwood Brown and Dallas Loraine Watson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Stephanie Kay Brown, his two sisters, Dolly Jean Sharp and Deaver Jane Hill, and his partner in life Valeria Rhew. Mr. Brown formerly worked at GKN and was a member of Bible Baptist Tabernacle.

James "JR" Brown loved watching westerns. He enjoyed long conversations with people. He loved his dogs like they were his children and never passed up on a home cooked meal.

James "JR" Brown is survived by two sisters, Donna Pruitt (Terry) and Debra New (RE); four brothers-in-laws, Sam, Jay, Vince, and Joe Hamrick; six nieces and nephews, Chis Nelson, Destiny Pruitt (Joey), Brittany Nelson, Ashely Wilber, Boston New, Josh Cox; eight great nieces and nephews, Jocelyne Nelson, Alston and Ethan Graham, Ryleigh Wilber, Rosalie and Lucas Poorman; four step-children, Daphne Rose Rhew, Ann Marie Rhyne (Chris), Georgia Lorene Rhew (Jonathan), and Ryland Wayne Rhew, Jr. (Courtney); seven step-grandchildren, Elijah Rhew, Alex and Savannah Rhyne, Daniel and Elizabeth Dugan, Declan and Dawson Eubanks.

Graveside service will be held Thursday March 5, 2026, at 2PM by the Pastor Joshua Mickle at Bible Baptist Tabernacle Church Cemetery, 8092 Hurdle Mills Road, Hurdle Mills 27541.

Pallbearers will be Chris Nelson, Alston Graham, Joey Poorman, Ricky Vernon, Johnathan Hamrick, Sam Hamrick, Ryland Rhew Jr., and Declan Eubanks.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, c/o Brooks & White Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1135, Roxboro, NC, 27573.
