Bobby Lee Haggans Sr. was born December 17, 1935. He departed this life peacefully and at home on August 18, 2025. He was born in Golsburo, NC to Mamie Smith and Haywood Hagins. He moved to the Washington DC area as a young man.

He worked for Howard University for over 30 years. When he retired, he moved back to Raleigh, NC to be close to his brother & sisters.

Bobby was a true die hard Washington Redskins fan. He loved bowling, and watching football. He was a joyful soul who loved life, laughter, fun, and adventure. He will be greatly missed. He was loved by many.

He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Haggans of 65 years. He was also preceded in death by his sons Bobby Lee Haggans Jr., John Mark Haggans, and Charles Jerome Haggans.

He leaves this life to cherish all of his fond memories to Benita Pollard of Bowie, MD, Keith Pollard (Gloria) of Fredericksburg, VA, Angelita Bolton (Don), La-Trice Batts (David) of Lexington Park, MD, Lisa Haggans of Washington DC, Denise Haggans of Raleigh, NC, Cassandra Williamson (Ronald) of Raleigh, NC. He also leaves to cherish his wits and charm to his thirty-one Grand children, fifty-one Great-grand children, three Great-Great Grand children. He leaves one Brother Ira Hagins of Raleigh, NC four Sisters, Louise McNight (Harold) of Raleigh, NC, Sadie Smith of Raleigh, NC, Jean Jeffries of Raleigh, NC, and Peggy Hagins from Raleigh, NC.

Bobby definitely had nicknames for some of his Grands such as Fatty Fat(Little Lisa), Good Looking(Takia), Redbone(Tamika), Crazy Horse(Lashawn), and they loved every minute of it and would answer to it.

We are forever blessed for the love you showed all of us.

Rest Peacefully Daddy & Grandaddy
