Bobby Lee Harris

Bobby Lee Harris, 78, of Galion, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 at Galion Community Hospital in Galion. Born May 1, 1931 in Weekly, Tenn., he was the son of the late Herbert Lee Harris and Bettie Mae (Birchem) Harris. He married Joann (Perfect) Harris on November 23, 1950 who survives. Bobby was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Galion. He served with the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He was instrumental in starting AMVETS Post 1979 where he was the Post Commander for 6 years and a life member. He was also a life member of American Legion Scarbrough Post 243, VFW Post 4329 and a member of Army Navy Garrison 978 all in Galion. He worked in shipping at the former North Electric where he was also a chauffer and retired from the former Peabody-Galion where he worked in shipping, drove truck and was a crane operator. In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Debra L. and Richard L. Gaede of Hamden, Conn.; one son, Jeffrey W. Harris of Toledo and two grandchildren, Jennifer Harris and Tyler Jeffrey Harris. He was preceded in death by one sister, Willie "Bill" Ruth. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Full military graveside honors will be held by the United States Army and Galion area veteran's organizations.
