Bobby "Casey" Eugene Hyatt, after a period of declining health, passed away on June 17, 2025, in Buncombe County, NC, just a few days shy of his 95th birthday.
Born on June 20, 1930, in Buncombe County, to the late Walter Stanley Hyatt and Augusta Hyatt-Godfrey, he is also reunited in Heaven along with his siblings Pauline Duckett, Helen Cox, Walter Stanley Hyatt, Jr., Jack Hyatt, Betty Green, Billy Hyatt, Marie Rickard, Mike Hyatt; daughter Cathy Derrick and Bonus Daughter Tracie Davis.
Casey dedicated 55 years of his life to the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers Union, where he served as a respected member and mechanic. His unwavering commitment to his craft served as a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication. He had lived throughout West Virginia during his time working as a mechanic.
Beyond his career, Casey was known for his vibrant personality and genuine love for storytelling. He had a remarkable ability to connect with others through his stories, often sharing his love for hunting and fishing. Among his many passions, he particularly enjoyed participating in Turkey Shootout Tournaments and was an ardent fan of NASCAR, especially admiring the legendary Dale Earnhardt. His enthusiasm for life was infectious, and he treasured the moments spent with his family, always looking forward to gatherings that brought them together. Casey was also a devoted member of the Erwin Hills Lions Club and Hominy Valley Wildlife Club.
He is survived by his daughters Ann Howell (Charlie), Laura Blake (Michael), Kelly Hyatt (Chris), Jeanie Cucumber-Hyatt, and his Bonus Daughter Crystal Jones. Casey was the proud grandfather of Travis, Chip (Sarah), Matthew, Rachelle, Hunter (Kenneth), Kaitlyn (Russell), Brianna (Andy), Jake, Mason, Michael, Dominic, Cory, and several great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by his siblings, Dixie King and David Hyatt, both of Leicester, NC, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at 11 am, Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Wells Funeral Home of Canton, NC, with a funeral service to follow at Noon. Casey’s beloved grandson, Matthew Howell, will officiate.
The legacy of Bobby "Casey" Eugene Hyatt will be cherished by all who knew him, as he leaves behind a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit that will continue to inspire.
The care of Mr. Hyatt has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton, NC.
