Bobby Ray Jones

Burlington - Bobby Ray Jones, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Moses H. Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
Bobby was born August 27, 1933, to Helen Smitherman Jones and Albert Watson Jones and was raised in Millbrook, NC, with siblings Antho, Albert, Frances, and Thomas. Bobby enlisted in the Air Force at age 20, specializing in air-to-ground communication, traveling to many countries all over the world during the Korean War, and was awarded the medal of "Good Conduct." A Member of the American Legion-Post 63 and USO, he was a lifelong supporter of veterans.
Bobby was a dedicated employee of Morton Salt for over 30 years, managing sales across several states, and curated an impressive collection of Morton Salt memorabilia.
Bobby led a rewarding and fulfilling life dedicated to service. As an active member of Centenary United Methodist, Bobby completed many mission trips. Additionally, Bobby was a Shriner out of the Amran Temple in Raleigh, NC, serving as a Member and Director of the Chefs' Crew, dedicated to raising funds for the
Shriners Hospital for Children. Bobby was a 32nd Degree Mason at the Greensboro Revolution Lodge. Bobby volunteered at Cone Health Cardiac Rehab and retired as the Volunteer Chairperson after 7 years of service. Upon retiring, Bobby left his "big Cone Family" with these wise words, "In life, there are no final exams; the test comes every day."
Bobby was reunited in heaven with his dear wife, Bettie Pearce Jones, in time to celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary on New Year's Day. Bobby and Bettie met at age sixteen and spent 70 loving years together, 66 of them married. Bobby often spoke of his faithful and enduring love for his wife and how loving her made him a better man. Their love and story will continue to leave an enduring legacy. They were blessed with a sweet and caring daughter, Karen Jones Barnes, and two dearly loved grandchildren, Helen and Meredith Barnes.
The celebration of life will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Twin Lakes May-Foley Chapel at 1 p.m. by Rev. Patrick I. Cardwell. The family will receive friends for visitation following the service at Twin Lakes. The internment will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Raleigh Memorial Park.
