Bobby Latham Obituary
Bobby was born in Lillybrook, West Virginia on June 21, 1937. He graduated from Stoco High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 - 1958. Bobby retired from Jefferson County Department of Environmental Services in 1999. He was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Trafford. Involved with AA in both Hueytown and Pinson, Bobby was very proud to have over 25 years of sobriety. Bobby enjoyed being on his lawnmower and election time. He loved God, his church, his community and his family, but truly adored his granddaughter.
Preceded in death by his parents, Luther W. Latham and Audra P. Gallups; and wife, Sylvia Chambers Latham. He is survived by his wife, Joette P. Latham; daughter, Carrol Chappelear; sons, Owen L. Holt (Julie) and Paden Vanderburg; grandchildren, Savannah Star Chappelear, Logan Boyd, and Ethan Boyd; and siblings, Sandi Hogan and Jerry Latham (Amelia Ann).
A visitation and public viewing for Bobby will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Saturday, February 21, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Bro. Pat Melvin will be officiating. Immediately following the funeral service, everyone will travel of their own accord to Trafford Baptist Cemetery, where we will all reconvene graveside for a brief committal service prior to interment.
