Bobby Lucas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Deer Park Funeral Directors - Deer Park on Feb. 2, 2026.
Bobby Ray Lucas, Jr. passed away on January 24, 2026. He was born on October 19, 1951, in Houston, Texas to Bobby and Shirley Lucas.

Bobby Ray, known by family as BR, is survived by his siblings Thomas A. Lucas & his wife Anna; Dave R. Lucas & his wife Sandra; Stephanie G. Heironimus & her husband Mark and Cherie Lucas. His nephews and nieces, Tommy Lucas, Jr. & wife Mary Kate, Alecia Wilson & husband Michael; Kevin Lucas; Tina Lucas & wife Jennfer; Nathan Heironimus & wife Rachel; Jon Heironimus & wife Laura; Shannon Bitgood & husband Nathan; Grant Lucas and Meagan Lucas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bobby & Shirley Lucas, brother Rick Lucas, and nephew Matthew Lucas.

In his early years BR loved all the fishing and camping trips with his dad, grandfather, and siblings. BR went to college to pursue a pharmaceutical degree and after three years he left college to go to work for Arco Oil and Gas on the ship channel where he retired in 1985 after 20 years of service. He later worked at Home Depot until his health made that hard for him. BR's hobbies included stamp and coin collecting for many years. BR had a photographic memory and knew everything he had and where it was located. His siblings often went into his room and would move something just to see if he noticed it. It always got a rise out of him, and he knew exactly what had been moved.

BR later joined Monument Baptist Church where he thoroughly enjoyed Brother Mike's sermons and attending Golden Years every other Wednesday with Tommy and Anna.

Family was especially important to BR. He cherished all the family birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings every year. He loved being Santa and passing out the presents on Christmas Eve. BR helped mom and dad in their older years with household duties. He enjoyed driving mom around Deer Park just to pass the time of day. BR had a nick name for every family member and always enjoyed any opportunity to gather with family to talk about old times and eat a delicious meal. BR will be missed by his siblings and the daily communication we all had with each other.
