AIKEN, SC – BOBBY L. MATTHEWS, JR., beloved husband of Sandra Heath Matthews, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Durham, NC, Bobby was a son of Bobby L. Matthews, Sr., and the late Margaret Elizabeth Hamlet Matthews. He grew up and lived most of his life in Aiken. He worked in commercial construction. Bobby loved his wife, kids and grandkids most of all. He was an avid fisherman and especially loved being on saltwater.
Survivors include his wife Sandra; his father, Bobby, Sr., Parksville, SC; two daughters, Beth Dowdy (Aaron), Melissa Jones, all of Aiken; his son, Jason Matthews (Liz), Tenants Harbor, ME, eight grandchildren, Melanie Flores (Douglas), Brandon Dowdy, Brian Dowdy, Manning Jones, Samuel Jones all of Aiken, Preston Jones (Kalyn), Anderson, SC, Genevieve Matthews, Caroline Matthews, both of Tenants Harbor, ME; a great-granddaughter, Stella Elizabeth Flores and a brother, Steve Matthews, Aiken.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, November 26th from 3 until 5 o’clock in the foyer of Cedar Creek Church, Banks Mill Campus.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Salvation Army or to a charity of choice.
